Thomas J. Carlsen, M. D.
Tom's medical career was in Bend; he was a practicing surgeon as well as the managing partner of The Center for Musculoskeletal Care and Research. He also served as a consulting Orthopedic Surgeon for the U.S. Olympic Team, U.S. Ski and Hockey Teams as well as coordinating medical services for Physiotherapy Associates on the PGA, LPGA and Champions Golf Tours.
Following his 35 year career as an Orthopedic Surgeon, Tom is currently a medical educator and consultant to the medical industry. In this role he teaches surgical skill labs, sales and marketing techniques and consults for their marketing and branding departments. He also provides leadership on medical product design and development. Tom is currently the President of the board of directors of TCF (The Center Foundation), a non-profit organization that helps support children in Central Oregon. TCF is active in research, education and scholarship incentives and contributes over $500,000 yearly in direct support of student athletes.
Tom earned his M.D. from U. of Minnesota in 1975 (AOA Honors), B.A. from St. Johns U. (after spending 1969 and 1970 at U. of Vienna) and in 1980 was chosen to be a Fellow at the Kerlan-Jobe Society.
